I grew up with an entirely different idea about poverty. I had the notion that if you spend money you’ll become poor. I was brought up in a middle class family with my father providing for two families, one, where I was born and the other, the family of my late paternal uncle who I lost when I was 15. I had the highest regard and love for him and the fact that I could never spend time with my grandparents made the bond even more special. He made up for the absence of my grandparents. The catch was, there seemed to be a generational trauma that I realised much later in life, when I began reading on manifestation. I always had a feeling that there is something amiss about the way the entire family treated MONEY. I made a promise to myself that I would break the generational trauma. I had to identify where the mindset had developed in the first place. I began observing how people in the family talked about money.
EVERYONE, I REPEAT, EVERYONE, TALKED OF MONEY WITH A LACK BASED MINDSET; EVERYONE WAS SCARED TO SPEND MONEY WHERE IT SHOULD BE SPENT. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THERE WAS NO LOGICAL APPROACH TO MONEY. NO ONE MADE INVESTMENTS IN THE APPROPRIATE MANNER. FOR THAT MATTER, EVEN EDUCATION. NO ONE REALLY INVESTED IN EDUCATION AS MUCH AS THEY SHOULD HAVE CONSIDERING THE WORLD IS A RAPIDLY EVOLVING SPACE. I DIDN’T SEE MANY OF MY COUSINS OPTING FOR A SUBJECT BECAUSE THEY WERE GOOD AT IT. THEY WENT FOR A STREAM BECAUSE THAT WAS REPORTEDLY ACCEPTABLE. THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY SPENT MONEY ON OBJECTS THAT HAD NO REAL VALUE WAS INSANE. I NEVER WITNESSED A MOMENT IN THEIR LIVES WHERE THEY INVESTED IN PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, FOR EXAMPLE, SPEAKING IN ENGLISH. THEY COULD AFFORD IT. MY FATHER HAS ONE OF THE LARGEST LIBRARIES IN THE COUNTRY. HE COULD HAVE EASILY GUIDED THEM. YOU CANNOT FORCE PEOPLE. CHANGE IS BROUGHT ABOUT ONLY WHEN SOMEONE WISHES TO SEE THE CHANGE. THEY JUST DID NOT WANT TO LEARN. NOT THAT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE MAKES YOU MORE ATTRACTIVE, IT SOMEHOW INSTILLS THE CONFIDENCE IN YOU, TO TAKE ON THE WORLD IN A DIFFERENT WAY ALTOGETHER. I am not complaining about my family. I wanted to break the generational trauma of poverty or lack of money so I observed how everyone spoke of wealth.
I have seen kids making an attempt to learn the language because they did not want to lag behind. They had far lesser resources than my family had but they knew something had to change so as to bring the change around them. One may say that studying in an English medium school is expensive. Sushmita Sen did not know the language before she entered the beauty pageant. Her family was not even able to afford the expensive attire that was a pre- requisite for the competition. An ordinary tailor had stitched her gown from an old sari of her grandmother’s. The reason why some people are able to achieve their goals while some can’t is because they do not look out for way to change the reality they are in. The discomfort must be effective enough to push you to perfection. The more irritable the discomfort, the easier it is to carve out ways to change prevailing conditions. History is witness to the fact that all revolutions were outcomes of immense chaos. The difference between achievers and non- achievers is that very thought of a chaos either giving them the opportunity to discover a skill or be weeping about the chaos itself. Victimising oneself never brings in a transformation. One may put in excuses about resources, funds, family conditions, etc. A truly strong- willed person can be the next face for a ‘rags to riches’ story. That strong will comes from an idea that I am about to discuss right now.
You are rich when you are healthy. You are richer than 10% of the people who have no one to love them. You are 50% richer when you can count your educational qualifications and think of ways to generate income. You are 80 % richer than most Third World populations when you have a roof over your head, a roof that is built with your own money. When you have a family, you are the richest! Everyone wishes for a luxurious life and desires a life full of comfort. There is nothing wrong with it. The problem is when people do not acknowledge the journey they have had, which is to say, from a considerably low condition to a relatively satisfying living experience. The fact that one forgets to thank the Almighty for the change of circumstances. Say this to yourself when you feel poor, “Things could have been worse, but it is not. Thank you, dear God.”
How does one manifest enormous wealth? It is simple. Understand that money is just a medium of exchange, it is not the root of all evil. The fact that one attaches meaning to money as if it were the cause of trouble or discord, creates a lack based mindset. As per the law of wealth, one must stop assuming that accumulating wealth is a vice. It is not. If you allow money to enter your life, it will come in various ways. Through a discount, or special offers or even complimentary gift items, one can always manifest money. My personal relationship with money has changed over the years. From thinking that spending money will make me a poor person, I changed that mindset into, I AM GOING TO MAKE THE RIGHT INVESTMENTS. I invested time and energy into educating myself about multiple sources of income. I realised that unless my passion is not centered around solving a particular problem, that passion is only going to remain behind closed doors. It will neither be discovered as a talent nor will anyone recognise it as a skill set. I began exploring options that would ensure my passion was acknowledged. My Podcast channel didn’t have much audience in the beginning. Gradually the number of listeners increased and now it has reached over 50 countries and this blog has reached more than 8000 views, around 500 people viewing it on an average every single day. People asking for coaching is not a new phenomenon; I was asked about this when I first began posting my success stories on social media. I began with email coaching and now it is a fairly good way to earn money. People are willing to pay as much as I ask and I never forget to express gratitude to the Almighty, the Universe (sometimes, to myself as well, since self- love is crucial in the whole manifestation space). What I am going to share with you now is what I call the millionaire mindset.
Essentially all millionaires are risk takers. They do not stop hustling. Even when they face a setback, they do not stop working towards their goal. When you focus on the learning process, you understand how money works. When you are focused on the fact that you need to control money, money starts controlling you. You will only be living pay check to pay check. How do you make investments then? Try to differentiate between assets and liabilities. A house is an asset, a car is a liability. Instead of saving ONLY, invest in shares, property, people who can be of help to you in order to save the amount of time/ energy you spend to reach a target (hire people under you who’d do some work for you like an intern, for your alternate source of income, and save you time while you do the 9 to 5 job everyday; pay them because the law of wealth works on the principle of generosity). Educate yourself about money and learn how to implement them. When you invest in the right way, you’ll notice you are able to save more time and energy so that other ventures are easier for you. For example, investing in a washing machine will save you time and energy. All millionaires are comfortable with the discomfort of failure. Unless the discomfort arises, you will never look out for arenas that will pay you. IN ADDITION TO THIS, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT TIME IS MONEY. IF YOU ARE GOOD AT SOMETHING, NEVER DO IT FOR FREE. TIME IS MONEY; YOU NEVER GET PAID FOR THE WORK YOU DO, YOU GET PAID FOR THE VALUE YOU PROVIDE. Time is a major factor when it comes to the millionaire mindset.
I had a weird attitude towards rich kids. I never saw them as talented or able enough. But, what they taught me was incredible. They taught me ‘how to dress the part’. I could be dressed as anyone, but if I was careless about my appearance, I would never be taken seriously. I still wear the same clothes, but I WEAR MORE CONFIDENCE. I AM CONFIDENT ENOUGH TO WALK AWAY FROM A DEAL THAT WOULD GIVE ME NO BENEFIT. I AM CONFIDENT ABOUT MY WORTH AND THE SERVICES I PROVIDE SO I AM BETTER AT NEGOTIATING WAY BETTER THAN EARLIER. Never speak of your money troubles in public. Never speak about money like it is the most important thing in your life. Look out for opportunities in places, whenever you can. Again, MONEY IS NOT EVIL. The way you approach money is the decider of your bank account.
I manifested a source of income during the pandemic. I was able to help many others use their potential to get an increment or a promotion in their respective places of work. Apart from this I manifested free stuff almost everyday. The abundance mindset worked for me in ways I could never imagine. I was always grateful and confident every time I spend money, however small or big amount.
Here’s what I concluded while experimenting on MANIFESTING MONEY:
- People aren’t grateful enough for anything they have in life. They desire more but fail to take action. One cannot aspire for luxury if one isn’t willing to take action.
- People buy objects to impress others rather than develop themselves. They’d buy things to look good but never invest in educating themselves about something.
- People spend too much time with those who complain about money. They talk of rising prices, unemployment and bank debts all the time, rather than wishing to cut themselves out from that negative self- talk.
- Kids these days do not acknowledge their degrees. They would complain about their parents not giving them enough pocket money but would never step out of the house to look for a job opportunity or enroll themselves for an internship. They do not work for what they want. I rarely see someone saying, “I am grateful to my parents for providing for me and for making me capable of earning for myself.” They would whine about breakups or fights with significant others but never channelise their energies into something that would solve their money issues.
- There is less of financial planning and more of saving. Poor people save, rich people invest.
- People waste money on things that would never last long. They spend less money and buy a product that would last lesser than a product that would last longer, maybe priced higher.
- People do not recognise their own potential. They fall into the trap of criticising themselves when they ask for their share after providing a particular service. It is not wrong to ask money for a work that you have done for someone based on your talent.
- If one practices gratitude on a daily basis, he or she will be able to achieve more because the law of abundance is based on the idea of thankfulness.
- People aren’t interested in generosity or charity. When one gives, one gets.
- Education is important. Educating oneself about money and how it works make an individual a millionaire in the shortest span of time. Not taking enough action will always place you in an uncertain state of mind.
AFFIRM: I AM MONEY. I AM A MONEY MAGNET. I AM A MILLIONAIRE. I ATTRACT MONEY. I AM ABUNDANT. I AM GRATEFUL THAT I HAVE MONEY TO SPEND. I AM THANKFUL THAT I CAN EARN MONEY EFFORTLESSLY.
